Long Point is a 2007 Kadey Krogen 58, hull number 13, named after a projection of land called Long Point that guides you to the entrance to Merasheen Island in Newfoundland, the ancestral home of Don’s family. She is an ocean going passagemaking powerboat fitted out for long range cruising and extended time aboard. Two John Deere 6068 diesel engines provide propulsion power and two Northern Lights generators provide electricity and power for the hydraulics. Four fuel tanks hold 1760 gallons of diesel providing ocean crossing range.

The navigation system is extensive and organized around Furuno equipment including up to date charts, multiple gps, two autopilots, two radars, AIS, VHF radios, SSB radio, satellite weather, and various other equipment to provide all the information needed for communication and safe passage. Safety equipment includes a six person life raft, EPIRBs, many life jackets, Garmin InReach, ditch bag ready to take in case of abandoning ship, signaling devices, survival suits, and various other things to ensure safety of the crew and guests.

Long Point is set up for comfortable living and extended time aboard. All the appliances you would find at home are available, including full size refrigerator, freezer, ice maker, propane stove and oven, microwave, dishwasher, washer and dryer, etc. etc. Hot and cold water is more or less unlimited with onboard capability to convert salt water to fresh water using a reverse osmosis 1000 gallon per day water maker. Climate control comes with air conditioning throughout the boat, and for cold weather, hydronic diesel heating is available.

Entertainment and communication systems include Starlink satellite internet which provides high speed internet access much like you would have at home. Additionally, routers provide access to marina wifi or cellular internet, but these are rarely needed with the availability of Starlink. TV is available through DISH satellite in the US, or through any streaming network through Starlink.

We carry a 14 foot AB RIB tender powered by 70hp Yamaha outboard, and usually there is a kayak or two aboard. A variety of beach toys are available for relaxing in the warmer climates.
